Keep in Touch with Nature: Belarusian Engineers Came Barefoot to the Office
Employees of the engineering company Unitsky String Technologies Inc. began their workweek on Monday in an unusual way. They arrived at the office barefoot to remind themselves and others of the importance of staying connected with nature and to raise awareness about environmental issues.
The General Designer of UST Inc., Anatoli Unitsky, wrote in his autobiography:
"If a person walks barefoot on the ground, they will treat it more responsibly – they will avoid littering, make pedestrian paths more convenient, and become wiser. It is preferable to walk and run barefoot on clean, uncluttered ground, or ideally on grass, where the dew is considered healing. Our feet have hundreds of zones that need stimulation, but those who grow up on asphalt miss out on this opportunity. I’m convinced that if people walked barefoot more often, the world would be a better place."
The philosophy of UST Inc. is that technology should peacefully coexist with nature, not antagonize it. By implementing green solutions, the company aims to harmonize progress with the biological environment and achieve a balanced coexistence between people and the surrounding world.
The innovations from Belarusian engineers, such as uST transportation that produces no emissions, preserves biogeocenoses, and requires minimal land allotment, are designed to make the planet's biosphere a comfortable, safe, and clean habitat for humans. It envisions a world where masks and gloves are unnecessary, and where people can walk barefoot with ease.
"Harmful energy policies, detrimental industries, climate change, deforestation, soil degradation, and overuse of resources are pressing issues that need immediate attention," notes Nadezhda Kosareva, the General Director of UST Inc. "This can only be achieved through the development of eco-technologies and ultra-conservative consumption of our natural resources, ensuring that many future generations can also thrive on our planet. Our ancestors believed that every living thing on Earth is interconnected with the environment, and each barefoot step helps to strengthen this connection. That’s why today we left our shoes at home."
